Sit Tight Folks. It’s About To Get Saucy!

Video gaming legislation has finally been passed in Australia allowing for games to be given an R-18 rating. Up until now video games could only receive a maximum rating of MA-15 which meant that many games aimed at a more mature market would either have to be edited heavily to achieve the MA rating or just not launched in Australia at all. This decision is a culmination of many years of debate between the Australian regulatory authorities, gaming companies, and video game players themselves. First of the gaming companies to welcome the change was Nintendo who were quick to announce that they would be taking advantage of the new R-18 rating and finally releasing previously withheld video game offerings to the Australian public with a set of titles aimed for the more mature player.

Nintendo representatives, Looie and Kooie, were out to show the world that Nintendo was not just a company of cute characters, but that it also possessed a dark and gritty R-18 side.

Nintendo spokespeople, Looie and Kooie, officially announced in a press conference in Japan a number of original and adult oriented titles that will be released in Australia in the upcoming months. The following are some of the new titles that Australian adult gamers can look forward to.

Baby Rex In The City (R-18)

In Baby Rex In The City, the player controls Baby Rex (and in a two-player game, a second player controls Baby Rex’s brother Rex Snr) as he travels through the Mushroom Kingdom in order to rescue Princess Rex from the evil antagonist.

Ladybug Chatterly’s Bros. (R-18)

In Ladybug Chatterly’s Bros., the player controls Ladybug (and in a two-player game, a second player controls Ladybug’s brother Ladybug Snr) as he travels through the Mushroom Kingdom in order to rescue Princess Ladybug from the evil antagonist.

Stitch, Put the Potion in the Basket! (R-18)

In Stitch, Put the Potion in the Basket, the player controls Stitch (and in a two-player game, a second player controls Stitch’s brother Stitch Snr) as he travels through the Mushroom Kingdom in order to rescue Princess Stitch from the evil antagonist.

“Come and play with me in my magical Mushroom Kingdom and grab a definitely not laced with relaxant chocolate.”, Shigeru Miyamoto.

  1. List of X says:

Are they not going to release The Booty Call Of Duty?

I am sure we could pitch this idea to Nintendo and dare I say propose yourself as the protagonist. How does the following sound.

In The Booty Call Of Duty, the player controls Commander X (and in a two-player game, a second player controls Commander X’s brother X Snr) as he travels through the Mushroom Kingdom in order to rescue Princess X from the evil antagonist.

It will make millions I am sure.

  2. HoaiPhai says:

What? Nintendo is not going ahead with the release of “Super Mario Brothers (R-18)” where it is revealed that they are not really brothers (and more than just friends), the Princess is really Dame Edna, and that those aren’t really mushrooms?

    • Ape No. 1 says:

You must have some insider knowledge HoaiPhai as your facts are almost spot on. The only bit I must correct is the name. My sources tell me that it is called “Absolutely Fabulous Mario Bros. (R-18)”. Apparently when it was released in Australia as just “Super” the developers made the mistake of not removing the moustaches and they feared the bushy displays of fabulousness could have provided a clue to the original version of the game.
